Hi & welcome to Look Coy! I began developing my brand back in 2008 after attending fashion design school. I studied clothing construction & design, but was always very interested in accessory design.
Everyone always asks me about my business name. It's inspired by the great screen sirens of the 30's & 40's. Back when showing too much skin in films was frowned upon, those gals relied on their wit & amazing facial expressions to tell their stories. They could say volumes just by raising an eyebrow! The word "coy" means to be marked by cute or artful playfulness.
In 2011, I used my knowledge of clothing construction to begin designing fascinators. I think these are my favorite items to make. I enjoy challenging myself with creating interesting & fun hat shapes that just make you smile.
In 2012, I incorporated vintage fashions into my shop & matched them up with my handmade items to make a perfectly accessorized outfit for all the vintages lovers out there (like myself!).
Just on the horizon, I'm bringing my background in fashion design full circle. I'm currently working on a line of cocktail dresses inspired from the 30's, 40's, & 50's. These will be debuting before the end of this year, so I hope you'll come back & see them!
